Welcome Back!
I'm hoping that you are rested and ready for the 2009-2010 school year. Throughout this school year, we will continue to build on what we have started.
We will maintain our focus on personalizing the learning environment so that all students receive the individualized attention necessary to help them achieve at their highest level. We want to provide opportunities for our students to succeed. Our amazing staff will work together to make sure we accomplish this goal.
During the 2007-2008 school year, we implemented the P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Intervention Systems) program and we will continue to use this program this year. We are currently entering into our third year of implementation. This program is designed to promote and reward positive student behaviors. We will increase our focus on improving student attendance as well. We will also be learning more about RTI (Response to Interventions) and beginning to implement it in our junior high school. Our goal this year is to have all of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students benchmarked this school year and begin progress monitoring those which need extra support.
With students, parents, staff, administration, and community members working together toward the same goal, we will achieve great success. We will be working with the Virden school district as well as both communities as we create our newly consolidated school district this year.
